Coming on one of our courses or activities? Take a read to find out more.
To help you get the most out of your activity with Edusports, please take the time to ensure that you've read the joining instructions, which will be sent to you, as well as this page.
Registration
Please ensure that you have registered through our website for the course. Please also ensure that the information held on your account is up to date. No registration form received = no course.
Assumed Risk sport
Whilst every care will be taken over your activity sessions, our courses include water contact sports and other activities that carry an assumed risk.
Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement in the activities, which could include death.
Safety is our top priority and always will be.
Signing in / out
Please ensure, especially with under 18’s, that you’ve signed in with the relevant Instructor for your / their activity. Additionally, please ensure that you also sign out before taking them away from the course to save that unwanted phone call!
Photos and videos
If, on the participant’s registration form, you’ve selected ‘yes’ for photos and videos to be taken, please note that the participant may appear on our social media pages, leaflets and website.
Our Instructor Team
Our Instructors, where relevant, have been DBS-enhanced checked, their qualifications have been verified and they have undertaken safeguarding training.
Please ensure that you always follow their instructions to ensure yours and others safety.
Weather
Please note that if, in the opinion of the Instructor, the weather is not conducive to a safe learning environment (e.g. high winds, high water or thunder and lightning), then a different activity will be attempted. Therefore, activities may change from those advertised at short notice.
Please make sure that if it is warm and sunny, that you apply sun cream before arriving at your session.
Activity Kit / Equipment
All safety equipment required for an activity will be provided. If you have your own equipment, please feel free to use this but be aware that an Instructor may inspect it to ensure it is safe to use.
Please ensure that you look at the weather so you can dress appropriately. If it is hot, please ensure that you bring plenty of fluid with you. Windproof layers, like a kagool or thin coat are recommended if it is windy and a wetsuit is ideal if you get cold easily but is not compulsory (unless we’re going to the Aquapark).
Please also wear non-slip shoes which are suitable to the terrain and activity that you will be undertaking, i.e., old trainers.
Emergency Contact:
If you need to contact us in an emergency, please do. However, please note, we may not be able to pick up straight away if we are teaching groups. The groups safety must come first and they are our priority. We may also be in an area of little signal. Therefore, if possible, please send a text first and we will make contact when we are able to.
Please also be aware that the emergency contact number may not be on the activity that your child is on.
Information for Residential activities
Medication:
Please hand in all medication (including calpol, hayfever tablets or anything similar). This is for the safety of all participants and your child. Please ensure it is labelled in a clear plastic bag with your child’s name and dosage.
Please ensure all medication that they are taking is also listed on their registration form for that participant.
Food:
Please ensure that you have included on your registration form any allergies and dietary requirements so that these can be taken into account.
Travel:
Most travel will take place in the minibus for all groups. Occasionally, we might use an Instructor’s car. Licenses and insurance will have been checked.
Sweets:
We know that one of the things parents like to give is a little treat. We will be getting enough food when we do the shopping. If you do provide sweets, please provide a tub to go with them so when they open the packet, they do not go everywhere. Equally though, we will be getting some sweets as part of our shopping list, so do not feel that you need to provide these! Our good friends, the ants, like lots of sticky sweets. We can keep them nice and cool in the building, saving your children from ants in their pants (quite literally!).
Special information for camps / expeditions / residential activities
Adventure Campers – take note!
Have fun, but make sure that you listen to all Instructors instructions whilst on the camp. We are there for your safety and want to have fun too to ensure that you have the best time possible. There is a lot of work to do for this camp before, during and after, playing many different roles whilst you are all having lots of fun!
Final notes:
Your Children are going to have a fun-filled and fantastic time. Please do not worry about them whilst they are with us. Between the Instructor Team, they have a wide variety of experience dealing with lots of different situations and are used to dealing with much larger numbers on residential experiences through Scouting and Schools. Your Adventure Campers will learn new skills, take on new challenges and have a go at things which they never thought they could do. They will overcome fears and learn how to tackle problems taking on board feedback and advice. If there is a problem, then we will contact you or let you know at the end of the camp. It is likely that the participants are in the same position where they may not have had much experience of sleeping away from family with their friends, so it is natural for them to be nervous as well as the parents!
Finally, if there are any questions or problems, please come and speak to us. When you come to Edusports, you speak to the team, not a call centre!
